Salvation

Through Jesus, the Word, we exist and have life. It's in the Bible, John 1:1-4, NKJV. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."

Sin separates us from God, the source of life. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 59:2, NKJV. " But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear"

What is sin? It's the breaking of God's Law. It's in the Bible, 1 John 3:4, KJV. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

Who has sinned? It's in the Bible, Romans 3:23, NKJV. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

What did Jesus do to save me? It's in the Bible, Isaiah 53:5-7, NKJV. "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."

It's in the Bible, Philippians 2:5, NLT. "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross."

Why did God send Jesus to die for me, you don't know the terrible things I've done. It's in the Bible, Romans 5:8, NKJV. " But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

It's in the Bible, John 3:16-17, NKJV. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

Through Jesus's death we are no longer separated from God. It's in the Bible, Romans 5:10, NKJV. "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."

Salvation means we receive eternal life if we enter into a personal relationship with God. It's in the Bible, John 17:3, NKJV. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 2:8-9, NKJV. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

How do I receive this gift of salvation?

Receive Jesus' death for your sins. It's in the Bible, Romans 10:9-10, NKJV. "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Repent and confess your sins. A powerful, personal response to the gospel is "repenting" or feeling sorry for our sins, confessing them, and turning away from them. It's in the Bible, Acts 2:37-38, NKJV. "Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

It's in the Bible, 1 John 1:9, NKJV. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Receive Jesus' life. Surrender your life to God, and let Christ live in you. It's in the Bible, Galatians 2:20, NKJV. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me"

It's in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Rejoice, for you are now a child of God! It's in the Bible, John 1:12, NKJV. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
